Set up Studio Pad

Connect the hardware, choose a control, and make your first assignment.

Before you connect

Install and open the Keemate Mac app. Use the app and firmware supplied for your Studio Pad beta. This guide covers the companion-app workflow on macOS; it does not imply that the same features are available on other operating systems.

Studio Pad supplies physical controls. Keemate on your Mac decides what those controls do, and AI actions use the model service you have selected.

Beta interfaces can change between builds. If your editor differs, update using the instructions provided with your device or contact Keemate before changing firmware.

Connect the pad

  1. Connect Studio Pad to your Mac using a USB data cable.

  2. Keep Keemate running. Open the Studio Pad section in the app.

  3. Wait for the device to appear and check that the displayed layout matches your hardware.

  4. If it is not detected, try a direct USB connection and a known data-capable cable before changing settings.

An unassigned key is not necessarily faulty. The app needs an assignment before a press can perform a useful action.

Assign your first control

Choose a key in the editor. Pick a simple action from the library, such as opening an app you already use. If profiles are available, begin in Default so you know which profile contains your assignment.

Save or apply the assignment using the controls in your build. Leave the configuration view and press the physical key while Keemate is running.

You should see the app open. Starting with a local action helps separate device setup from any AI connection or credit issue.

Try an AI action

Choose a command that already works in Keemate, such as Summarize. Assign it to a key, select text in another app, and press the key.

The selected text must be available when the command starts. A physical key cannot answer a missing parameter or pick a file on your behalf. See Keys & knobs for assignment details.

Get familiar with your layout

The app includes layouts for Macro16, Workflow 1, Workflow 2, and TuneGrid. Use the detected layout for the connected device. Knobs can expose clockwise, counterclockwise, and press actions.

Some controls have built-in functions and are not ordinary assignment targets. Follow the labels shown by the editor. If a press highlights the editor instead of running an action, leave configuration mode and try again.

Continue with keys and knobs, then app profiles. If the device still does not appear, use the hardware troubleshooting checks.
