Troubleshooting

A few practical checks for shortcuts, selected text, AI, and your pad.

The command bar does not open

Make sure Keemate is running. Try opening it from Applications or its menu bar control. The default shortcut is Control + Space, not Command + Space.

If the app opens normally but the shortcut does not work, check Keemate’s General settings and whether another app or macOS input source uses the same combination. Choose a different shortcut and test it.

Selected text is missing

Select text in the source app before opening Keemate. Test with a simple text editor to check whether the issue is specific to one application or field.

Review Keemate’s Accessibility permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security. If macOS asks you to reopen the app after changing access, do that. Secure fields and some custom editors may not expose their text in the same way as an ordinary text field.

If the command supports clipboard input, copy the text and try that route. Check the command’s input setting before running it again.

An AI request fails

Check your internet connection and the selected model. If you are using included models, review your available Keemate credits. If you are using your own key, check the provider’s key, account balance, and access to that model.

Retry with a short text request and no attachment. If that works, the original input or document extraction may be the problem. Note the error message and model name when asking for help.

Studio Pad is not detected

  1. Keep the Keemate app running.

  2. Reconnect the pad using a USB cable that supports data.

  3. Try a direct USB port instead of a hub or adapter.

  4. Check whether your app and firmware are the matching versions supplied for your device.

  5. Contact Keemate if the detected layout is wrong or no device appears.

Do not install unrelated firmware or change device identifiers as a troubleshooting shortcut. Use instructions provided for your specific Studio Pad.

A key runs the wrong action

Check the active app and active profile. The editor may be showing a different profile from the one the device is currently using. Inspect whether the action is inherited from Default or is a custom override.

Leave configuration mode before testing. For an AI command, check that the required text or other input is available. For a macro, check its target app and window focus.

Lighting does not respond

Check that lighting is powered on and brightness is above zero. Verify the connection and firmware compatibility before resetting appearance settings.

A lit device is not by itself proof that the app has recognized it. Check the Studio Pad status in Keemate too.

Get help with the right details

Use the contact page and include your macOS version, Keemate app version, what you expected, what happened, and steps that reproduce the issue. For hardware, add the layout and firmware version when available.

Attach a screenshot only after checking it for API keys, client tokens, private text, and other sensitive information. You never need to send a provider API key for ordinary troubleshooting.
