Open it over your work
Press Control + Space to show or hide Keemate. If you have changed the global shortcut, use your chosen combination instead. Keep the app you want to act on in front before opening the bar.
Find the right result
Start typing a command, application, file, or tool name. Keemate uses fuzzy matching, so a partial name or initials can be enough. Frequently used results can rise in the list as Keemate learns what you open.
Use the arrow keys to select a result and Return to run it. Pay attention to its type: a similarly named app, AI command, and macro do different things.
An empty bar is intentional. Suggestions when opening Keemate are optional; enable them in Search settings if you prefer to begin with recent or frequent actions.
Search with a prefix
Type ; to find snippets.
Type : to find emoji.
Type ? to search your Context Vault when that feature is enabled.
Type quit followed by an app name to find a quit action.
Some search sources depend on permissions, feature settings, or the contents of your Mac. File search uses your Mac’s search index, so a recently created or excluded file may not appear immediately.
Ask instead of searching
When you do not know the command name, describe what you want to do and use the Ask AI action offered by the bar. Include the app name and the result you want. Read Ask for examples and how to check a suggested action.
Tune the bar
Open Settings to change your global shortcut, appearance, and search behavior. Use your command library to manage custom actions. Keep only the actions you use enabled if you prefer a shorter results list.
If Keemate does not open, start with the hotkey checks.
