Choose where the assignment belongs
Open the Studio Pad editor and select the profile you want to edit. Default provides the starting assignments; an app profile can override them while that application is active.
The profile you are editing and the profile currently active on the device are not always the same. Check both before testing.
Assign a key
Select an assignable key in the editor.
Search the action library or browse its categories.
Choose an app, shortcut, macro, snippet, quicklink, or compatible AI command.
Complete any required choices and confirm the assignment.
Leave configuration mode and press the physical key to test it.
A meaningful label makes the layout easier to read. Choose actions you repeat often and keep related actions near one another.
Configure a knob
A knob can have separate actions for clockwise, counterclockwise, and press. Selecting a rotation action does not automatically give the press action the same job.
For system volume, select a knob and use the Volume pair if your editor offers it. Otherwise assign Volume Up clockwise and Volume Down counterclockwise from the available actions. Configure the press separately if you want one.
Test the rotation after leaving configuration mode. The volume should move in the expected direction. A Zoom or Scroll pair works the same way when supported by your build and the target app.
Replace or clear an assignment
Select the control to inspect its current action. Replace it with a new action from the library or use Clear where that option is available.
In an app profile, Use Default removes the override and restores the inherited action. It does not erase the assignment stored in Default.
While the editor is configuring the pad, key presses may select or highlight controls instead of running their actions. Leave configuration mode before testing the real workflow.
Assign an AI command reliably
Test the command in the app first. Supply required parameters, select the text it will use, and make sure the chosen model can run. If it fails from the pad but works in the app, check the active profile and captured input.
