AI commands

Turn a useful instruction into an action you can run again.

What a command contains

An AI command combines an input, an instruction, and an output. For example: selected text, a request to fix its grammar, and a replacement in the original app.

Keemate includes commands for rewriting, translating, summarizing, and drafting replies. Some commands ship switched off; enable the ones you want from the command library or search settings available in your build.

Choose the input

  • Selection uses text highlighted in another app.

  • Clipboard uses content you have copied.

  • Snapshot captures an area of the screen for an image-based question.

  • File lets you attach a supported document.

The input options offered depend on the command. Screen capture needs the relevant macOS permission. A command that needs you to pick a file cannot complete unattended from a physical key.

Create a reusable instruction

Open the AI Commands library and use its add or create action. Give the command a name that describes its result, choose its input, and write the instruction.

A useful starting prompt is: Rewrite the selected text as a short, friendly reply. Preserve names, numbers, and commitments. Return only the reply.

Choose whether to replace the selection or keep a new result in Keemate. Try the command on sample text before using it on important work.

Pick the model

You can use your default model or select one for a particular command. An explicit choice lets you keep a familiar model for an action even when your default changes.

Included models use Keemate credits. Models connected with your own API key use your account with that provider. See Models, keys & credits for the distinction.

Make it ready for a physical key

Before assigning an AI command to Studio Pad, fill in any required choices, such as a target language or output mode. The command also needs an input that is available when you press the key.

For a translation key, select text in your app first, then press the assigned control. The pad triggers the action; it does not supply the text or run the AI model itself.

Start with a separate result while refining a prompt. Switch to replacement once you trust the instruction for the kind of text you use.
